Clearer insight into relationships
Visible Companion Affinity, created by CDante, is a Fallout 4 mod that brings transparency to companion interactions. Every time a player’s actions influence affinity, the vanilla notification is immediately followed by the current affinity rate and the exact amount gained or lost. This direct feedback eliminates guesswork and allows players to better understand how their companions respond to choices in the game.
Dialogue and lists at your fingertips
In addition to notifications, affinity can be checked during companion relationship dialogue. When the player asks about the relationship, a message box appears with precise data right after the companion speaks. The mod also introduces two helpful items: the Affinity List, which displays relationship data for all unlocked companions, and the Affinity Holotape, which adds portraits, descriptions, affinity information, and serves as a configuration tool for display options. These features create multiple ways to monitor and manage relationships with ease.
Expanded support across companions
With version 3.0, the mod added full support for the Far Harbor DLC, unlocking affinity features for Old Longfellow. Version 4.14 extended the same support to Nuka-World, allowing Porter Gage to be fully integrated into the system. Together, these updates ensure that all companions, whether from the base game or major DLCs, benefit from visible affinity tracking.
Affinity with precision
The system operates on a scale of -1,100 to 1,100, converted into percentages for clarity. For example, an affinity of 500 is shown as 50%, while 1,100 equates to 110%. This transparent structure gives players exact knowledge of where they stand, from disliked actions to moments when companions admire or idolize them.
Known issues and limitations
While the mod enriches understanding of companion relationships, it is not without flaws. A critical bug has been reported where affinity changes occurring in irradiated areas may trigger an infinite loop of scripts. This can lead to performance drops, stuttering, and eventual crashes. Although temporary workarounds exist, players should remain aware of this limitation when using the mod in heavily irradiated zones.
A transparent look at companions
Visible Companion Affinity transforms how players experience Fallout 4’s relationship system. By revealing precise affinity values, supporting DLC companions, and offering multiple display options, it brings much-needed clarity to companion interactions. Though it carries a known bug in irradiated areas, the mod remains a valuable tool for anyone seeking deeper insight into the bonds that shape their journey.
